hi there, just ordered a stillen y-pipe yesterday. am thinking of getting the random technology cat. converter, need list of places to go buy it and prices how much it'd cost. called random tech themselves, said prices were $200+ but I think I've seen cheaper prices on the maxima.org posts.

also, do I need to get new flanges or other parts for the y-pipe and cat converter? stillen said their y-pipe doesn't need new flanges cos theirs has new ones built in. how about the random tech cat. converter.

all help and expert advice is greatly appreciated.
thanks

try http://www.lightningmotorsports.com for the cat...they pretty much have it the cheapest...you shouldn't need new flanges for the cat....it will bolt directly up...

Random Technology converter

Hello:

I don't think the Random Technology cat-converter will give you that much of a gain... Their dyno chart depicts from 10-20HP difference but their baseline run without their converter is unusually low in output for an OEM 5th gen engine...

its not going to give you much gains...you only notice them really if your existing cat is old and becoming built up and restrictive....

Man I'm really perplexed on the cat issue. I'm doing a full exhaust (b pipe and muffler) and am hesitant on gettin the cat if the stock one is not all that restrictive. I'd like to get the Y Pipe too which really frees up some horses but Stillen recommend against a Stillen Y pipe, an auto transmission and a Supercharger

I think I'm going to forgo the RT cat

I got the RT cat cuz its supposed to help quiet the greddy & ypipe. you might wanna consider that.. used, its cheap. (the cat, that is.)

BTW, did the RT Cat quiet the Greddy down?

I have long thought about getting the Greddy, but with the Stillen y-pipe, I have heard cars with the same setup that are way too loud for my taste. Does the RT cat really quiet it down?

The addition of the cat did eliminate some of the drone from the exhaust at cruising speed but I sure didn't get 10-20hp more. The RT Cat would be the last exhaust related mod that I would recommend.
