A few questions about changing the bumper lights

I just received my d/c bumper lights and was looking for instructions and found those from maxima.org and started reading it and in the step of sericung the light, they say that I need to pull back the front FENDER LINER to get my hand behind my lights. But what's a fender liner?? Is that a part of the cars body? or is it something under the hood? Need specifications!

And for those who changed their bumper lights, did you put the orange bulb that came with the lenses or did you put a white bulb? How does it look with either one of those and is white bulb really illegal?

Do you have any advice on what to do and what not cause I don't want to screw anything. Thx.

How 'bout a trade? I tell you the info, and you provide pics of the lenses and info on where you got them?

Here's the info, the liner is the plastic in the wheel well. You know when you remove the front wheel, how the wheel well is "lined"? That plastic can be removed, and is how you access the back of the bumper lights.

Dawn it! I opened my box today and guess what? they sent me the old foggy **** instead of the d/c!!! I now have to wait to see what happens next now but for later, I would like to know if there isn't an easier way to install the lights without having to pull back the fender liner? like opening the hood and find a way to get there cause I don't know much about the fender liner. I red that it was an easy mod but with the fender liner thing, it doesn't sound that easy.

All you have to do is carefully pry out the sidemarker lens (the rectangular piece toward the rear of the car) with a flathead screwdriver. It should just pop out without much force (it's held in by a ball & socket joint). From there, you can undo the screw that holds the parking light in (Phillips head). I have the "foggy" type, but I put white bulbs in for sidemarkers (since they don't flash) and amber bulbs in for the turn signals in the front. The sidemarkers match the stock cornering lights exactly and I think it looks pretty good.

If you don't want to worry about the fender lining, just take your corners and put a dab of glue on the end of the socket when you put it in. It'll keep it from falling out. Hope that helps!

You can forget about the fender lining... it is completely irrelevant!

Out of curiosity, what instructions were you using?

if you want to secure the light by bolting it in from behind, the easiest way is to go through the fender lining. It's just a flap under the car, which is bendable. If you don't want to do this and think its too difficult, then first of all, you won't be able to do any other mods to your car (since this is probably the easiest), and second, you should just do it the standard way, without securing it, but just popping the sidemarker back in.

its really not difficult at all, go spend some time around the car instead of on the keyboard, and you'll find a way to put them in, its pretty straight forward.

also, i have hyperwhite bulbs for my sidemarkers, with stock bulbs for the indicator, which looks yellow compared to my hyperwhites. i haven't had any trouble with them as of yet.

I got them off of ebay from Redlinezone

Dev: If it is as easy as you say, can you tell me how to pull it back? Is there a screw or something that fixes it or I can just pull it without doing anythyng?

I popped the side one out from the inside...just put your hand through the fog light hole and pop out. Or if you need, stick your hand in from the grill area medial to the fog light housing.
