warranty ?
hi, i have a 99 se maxima. i am the only owner of the car. i leased it for 31/2 years & than bought it out. i also purchased the security plus pre-owned plan. the car has about but no more than 34 thousand miles. the service engine light came on & at times started flashing w/ performance suffering. i brought it to my local garage who did a diagnostic test & told me it was the ignition coil & should be covered under warranty. so, i brought it to the nissan dealer & had them checck it out. they to told me it is the ignition coil & will cost 773 dallars to repair(n.y.). but, they are stating that it is not covered under warranty in thier service book. in my security plus per-owned book that they sent me it cantains my vin #, policy #,the year & make of my car, & when the policy expires. it also states under this service agreement in the electrical section that the ignition coil is covered due to mechanical breakdown. but when i told the service manager what my book said, she got rude & said she can't help me, that her book states otherwise. if any1 can help me w/ this problem or can point me in the right direction i would love it. i paid 16 hundred for this plan & shouldn't have to pay more $ for something i can control. thank you very much.
Did you buy the ASP extended warranty plan? In Canada, the terms are 72 months/120,000km. I downloaded a copy of it off the internet from Nissan's website a year ago. If you can't find it, let me know & I'll e-mail it to you. It applies to all '99 & newer models. Apparently, those terms also apply to my '97. I bought my Max 2nd hand. I was very fortunate to have the ASP b/c I've had a number of big ticket items replaced on it.
The info about what items are covered under warranty for my specific car is stored in some database. I'm not sure if it's the dealer's from which I bought the Max or some national database. It ought to be since the ASP is pegged against the car, not the owner.

the thing is, i have my book for the security plus pre-owned plan. i just purchased the plan a few months ago & its states when it expires. it states that it covers the ignition coil. i don't know what you mean by asp plan. this is a mechanical failure & its in writing that its covered. this should not be an issue. i can't let them get away w/ this, 16 hundred is enough already. some1 please help if you can. thank you.

To cut to the chase, the ignition coils are covered under "Electrical". I hope this helps. Good luck!
