Front right htd O2 sensor heater
Front right htd O2 sensor heater
Two months ago my check engine light came on producing two codes: 0304(knock sensor) and 0901(front right htd 02 sensor heater). I researched what the knock sensor did and found out it affected power and performance so naturally I immediately replaced it. I reset the ECU and was fine for two weeks until the light came back on. The good news is now it's only listing the 0901 code, however I'm still not sure if my old knock sensor was really defective since I've read other threads about the knock sensor alarming anytime an O2 sensor alarms, but that money's already gone.
My question is does the 0901 code indicate that the sensor is defective or that my emissions are too high (I've got a Y-pipe and I may have fryed my cat. burning out the bolts w/ a torch to install it) Also, is this the sensor that I installed in the shorter arm of the Y-pipe? How hard is it to get to the electrical plug? Finally, does fixing this problem help performance at all, or is it just to get the damn check engine light to turn off?

i think the generic definition of the code is "sensor out of range"...meaning the sensor is giving information thats not in the realm it should be....chances are the sensor is in need of being replaced from old age
