hard to shift...

Lately, my tranny has been a little harder to shift than i remember. I find myself double clutching to help smooth it out. could it be my clutch or do i just need change my tranny oil?

When's the last time you changed the tranny oil? I put in Red Line & it's significantly smoother (esp. in winter time).

A leaky hydraulic system can cause difficult shifts as well.

Is this all the time or when the car is first warming up?

it is usually stiff all the time, but more so when cold.

Your first option right now is to get some synthetic oil in there (recommend Redline MT-90).

This is worth looking into first (just to knock off potential problems through process of elimination) before investing a wackload of money on expensive Red Line tranny fluid. Just my $0.02 worth.

There are 2 spots I believe where the tranny would leak... or most commonly does. One is the driveaxel seal or the tranny position switch.

Tranny position switch:

I dont think this would be the case for his clutch problem. That is if your talking about the hydraulic line for the clutch. There seem to be 3 main places that the fluid can leak from: Master Cylinder, Slave Cylinder, and the line between.

I would say check the master cylinder level very carefully, if it goes down just a little over a few days or a week, then you might have a pin hole leak in the line. In this case look for sweating or moisture. Or you could bleed the line and see if you find any air bubbles.

I am having a similar problem and its just Pi**ing me off that I cant find out where the problem is. I replaced the master, rebuilt the slave, and the line is new.

Of course his problem could be something else, but I know thats my problem. Its like I cant push the clutch down far enough....I even adjusted the preload on the master cylinder.
