Resonator/B-pipe question

If I replace the b-pipe w/ one that has no resonator, will it make any diff. in sound if the pipe is factory 2" or 2 1/2" in diameter? I am leaving the stock exhaust otherwise the same as it is. Also, how much does the sound increase w/ the res. removed and stock muffler?

I have the same experience as slammed95. I have 2.5" piping from Budget from exhaust manifold back with no resonator. It sounds chattery/raspy. It's not the nicest sound but for the power gains, I bear with it.

So, the added sound is not deep, but more raspy-souding? What about cruising on the highway? Also, when you said from the maniforld back did you mean from the cat back, or the whole part from the engine back?

Oh, it's definitely deep sounding. But there's also a bit of a raspy sound mixed in. Cruising on the highway is fine except when going up an incline. Then it drones a bit.

My sig had the details of my exhaust components but..... we won't go there.

Modifications to the exhaust system start from the Budget y-pipe, then high-flow cat, Budget b-pipe (no resonator) & 2K1 muffler with 2.5" inlet pipe.

So, your exhaust is not completely stock? Mine is completely factory. Will mine sound the same, considering you have a Y, high-flow, etc.?

Speaking of b-pipes. Does a 2.5 b-pipe bolt up to a stock muffler?? Was looking to purchase one fairly soon, but didn't want to change out my muffler just yet, but I do want a 2.5 pipe considering my new y-pipe is 2.5.

Thanks for help! Oh, was looking at a WSP b-pipe with a resonator. Says 2.25 on the site, but available in 2.5.

No, the rest of my exhaust system is not stock. The factors that create the extra noise in my car are: jwt pop and b-pipe w/o resonator.

An aftermarket y-pipe & high-fow cat doesn't contribute that much noise while used with a stock muffler. btw, my modified 2K1 Maxima muffler is essentially stock. It's only got a bigger diameter inlet pipe (from 2.25" to 2.5"). Hope this info helps you. Are you planning on dropping in a high flow intake?

Victim64: My '97 oem muffler did bolt on to Budget's 2.5" dia. b-pipe by way of the flanges. What couldn't be fitted in was was an oem crush ring gasket since it is 2.25" dia.
