rear sway bars are a waste of cash...they dont make any difference to the car..what u should get is a front strut tower bar.......makes all the diff in the world.... rather than waste money on that put it to good use!afte ur suspension mods dont forget the WHEEL ALIGNMENT ONLY FRONTS CUZ MAX IS A 2 wheel align. car....dont be fall for all 4

the rear sway bar does do a lot for a FWD car, as a FSTB does for RWD cars. get the rsb (think of the autoX ppl, they all have lowered cars WITH RSB's) i have a FSTB and it does nothing, i just got it cause its a cheap mod. our cars have excess oversteer, and the RSB provides understeer to counteract it. just don't fall into the bandwagon that a FSTB does a lot, cause if i put one on your car, and you didn't know, you wouldn't know the difference. i think its all psychological, "i have a fstb so my car handles better now" kind of thing.
i took a ride in a lowered max w/rsb and i can tell you THAT is a world of a difference. you won't be disappointed.

FSTB is nice for the longer sweepers but even there, it only makes
a slight difference. The RSB on the other hand, makes a WORLD of
difference. Play around with the mounting of position for the end
links to affect how much play it has for you. The RSB will help you
tremendously and definitely helps set the car to a more neutral
feeling from the heavy understeer. With the right throttle and wheel
inputs you can bring about easily controlled oversteer.

RSB was the last handling mod I put on and I'm sorry I waited so long
to get it done. If you want to push the limits of traction, get
great tires with a good-sized contact patch and toss on the RSB.

You gotta love posts like this!

The rear sway bar is the most noticable 15 min. bolt on suspension mod hands down. Dropped or not, you feel it big time.

The front strut tower brace is not that noticable. Some will feel it's presents and some don't. Sort of like a plasebo(sp?) It does firm up the strut towers. There's a great web site that explains how it works and what forces it really sees. I can't locate the address right now, if I find it I'll post it.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT ONLY FRONTS CUZ MAX IS A 2 wheel align. car....dont be fall for all 4

A 4 wheel thrust alignemnt is the correct alighment for FWD cars. It should cost you about 50 bucks. The thrust angle assures the front wheels are tracking in the same tracks as the rear wheels. If thats not set correctly, your steering wheel will be off center.

APER5, Please get your facts straight before making posts.

Is it better off to leave the installation of a RSB until the spring-time? I thought that the effects of a RSB in snow is not really as desireable.

I doubt you will be driving that hard in the snow to truely appreciate the RSB mod, i get alot of snow where im located and find my sway bars and lowered suspension is just a tease on the roads because you can really loose control if your in a fun mood. I'm a true believe that its a mental thing also, you drive harder with mods.

RSB is an excellent investment, it is an obvious improvement. Some people removed it when they installed their suspension. This was mostly because they wanted to save weight when running on straight track. If you have any form of curves on your daily commute the choice is simple.

Max noob

Try doing your clover ramp test with your Max that have the rsb and better rubbers, and you should increase that m/h. Also, the test that you did with the other cars are like comparing apples and oranges. WRX = all wheel drive, and G20 = Smaller and lighter car.

The mod that I did to my Max was the Stillen rsb, and it handled alot better in my oppinion. I also don't know how good or better is the brand of rsb.

FSTB worked good on my car. the steering was alot tighter and didn't go all over the road when i hit bumps. before the FSTB when i hit bumps and rough road i felt my car was all over and loosing control now its a lot better and easier to control, I think.

if maximas came stock with a rsb.. they would have sold a lot more cars. car and driver magazine would be ranting and raving about what a handler the family sedan is.. as for the fstb didn't make a bit of a diff, it's a good conversation piece and it compliments the look of the intake. maybe, if you want to fool yourself, you might feel a little difference on the highway changing lanes doing higher speeds with the fstb on. beside, they're only 12 bux nowadays.
