Brake job / upgrade help
Hello all,
My '98 SE is ready for a full brake job and I am looking for input on what brands etc. are recommended. I do not "need" Brembo or EBC but I like to use the best quality parts when possible. Any input as to which aftermarket brake components are better and where to get them would be appreciated.
Tire Rack only carries parts for the front brakes which I thought was odd..
Also, what do you folks think about the direct replacement brands that are carried by Autozone, Napa etc. Are Beck Arnley better than Raybestos and are these brand names better than the Napa house parts?
TIA for your help

Here's a quick summary:
Good pads will improve braking performance (AXIS metal masters, Porterfields R4S, etc)... No need for drilled or slotted rotors...
Try a 'search' on this topic and you can find alot of information:
Here are some general instructions (there are others...)
Fronts most steps are applicable
Rear brakes

I am very happy with my Porterfield R4S pads. They are expensive but worth the money. Just make sure to follow the instructions for bedding the pads in, and always mount onto old rotors. New rotors + Porterfields equals crashing into the car in front of you.
