Automatic Turbo coming in Jan

Well im 90% sure that my car will be goin in sometime after jan 7th to get the turbo done. The wait is finally over for an automatic kit by pfi, Hopefully everything turns out good and my tranny holds up.

Wow, so i don't have to swap trannies anymore...

Imagine eathing a Jack in the Box #7 combo while talking on the cel and going through 350+hp on my way to work. That and a shifter is an extra distraction when a girly is in the car

If my friend pulls the right strings and gets me a job at HP Ill be right behind you, well, Nigel, cause I dont want a turbo on a max with 93k, haha, so Id get a 5spd.

Still looking for that 5spd too, but not really, just kinda looking at what is out there and for how much.

Congrats on that thing, I want a ride when its done!

my thoughts exactly, i give the tranny... hmm... 15-20 1/4mi runs, but they will be spirited to say the least.

i'd venture to say that a max tranny, while not bullet proof, when properly taken cared of and built, will be able to sustain power so long as it is not abused by neutral drops or what not. examples:

Don in Texas
Mardigras

have you seen maxima trannys? have you seen what happens to any tranny under the stresses of racing? do you know what it takes to make a tranny sustain racing? i venture to say that you would say no to all the above. the max tranny has issues living through normal driving let alone racing. it is as bad as the vq is good. if there was a good alternative tranny, i would be all over it.

I am only gonna be runnin 4psi no intercooled for a while so i think my tranny will hold up for a while. Plus our track in colorado doesn't open until the spring so i won't be racing it anytime soon. I do also plan on the bullet proof tranny by level 10 i mean the parts are only like $730 so that will probably be my summer project as well as adding the FMIC.

You may try looking into a hybrid turbo setup, or even using a small shot of NOS until boost kicks in if you are going with a straight t04.. considering you can not rev up and use a clutch for power off the line. I do remember an automatic 4th gen max running a t4 who complained about having a dog until it spooled, then it was crazy.

best of luck, can't wait to hear how it goes

Im getting a deal on the turbo as im buying turbo97se used to4e, plus with the weather in colorado id rather not have boost come earlier when there is snow out, cause max's already aren't that great in the snow to begin with. But once i do get the tranny done i may consider a small shot of nitrous for track purposes.

I am not sure yet, depends on how hard it will be to install the new parts. But i do know if i get a tranny shop to do it, it will run me over a $1000, So we'll see when the time comes.

Ya i know he is offering the whole tranny for 2500 but i can get the parts from level 10 for about $730, But the tranny isn't something im really worried about right now, first i need to get the turbo in. then comes the tranny work.
