95-96's had that lighter silver color. sterling mist was introduced later on. its cloudier and more metallic looking.
but i dont see how its mistaken for the beige sand color

Silver is my favorite color for the max right after black. It just wears those two colors well.

sterling mist here too... ours does look more greyish but I still consider it silver. Sound more expensive when I call mine silver
and most of the time when I tell non max owners sterling mist, they look at me little funny.
