Difficulty in removing key from ignition

This started as the weather got colder down here in New Orleans. It just occurred one day in the afternoon. I came back home around 3:00P.M. from school, and I couldn't remove the key from the ignition. I tried using a spray lubricant but it didn't work, but I eventually got it out. I had a spear key and tried that. The spear key came out but with some slight difficulty as well. However, when the weather gets warmer like 72 degrees, the key comes out easier, but not smoothly like it always has. I looked at the original key and I can see that it's bent or cut up. But the spear key is brand new and the same thing still happens. Any ideas on what's wrong?

I had this problem too. But, I think it has to deal with something else. When I turned off the car and tried to take out the key, it wouldn't let me. I pulled and pulled and it just wouldn't come out. But, to my amazement, just by turning the wheel a little left and right, the key slid right out.

Yeah, just wiggle the steering wheel. I noticed if you have the steering wheel against the lock and you try to turn the ignition, it won't turn until you move the steering wheel off the lock. Its kind of annoying.

Thanks. My car's being painted and the guy doing the job complained about the problem. I forgot all about the steering wheel.
