Heat Shield near catalytic...do you need it with a y pipe

Just wondering what everyone did with the heat shield. I know people have bent it back out of the way but it seemed like taking it off would be okay. I have a stillen y pipe. Any thoughts?

I took mine off. No problems, just the console gets a little warmer then before toward the bottom.

I lost mine in the summer, it just fell off in the middle of the street somewhere. Haven't noticed any heat difference...
