5 Questions

1. Does replacing steel wheels with alloys reduce road noise?
2. How quiet (loud) is your Max's engine?
3. Does replacing working platinum spark plugs after 30K (vs. after 60K) make anything better?
4. Will flushing & changing automatic tranny fluid make shifting smoother even if the fluid has always been changed at scheduled maintenance intervals?
5. Watcha gonna do with your Max when your auto-tranny dies of old age?

1. I think its more the tires that make road noise, alloys are stronger and flex less than steelies, also weight distribution is a little better.

2. Stock, the engine is very quiet. With an intake, at low rpms and low throttle, pretty quiet. If I open up the throttle and let it rev up (with the intake) it is very very loud.

3. The point of platinum plugs is that they will last and work the same for 60k miles.

4. Don't thnik it will make a difference, maybe a little at first.

5. Don's VB Mod

Quiet, compared to my old Jeeps' engines.

[3B]. Does replacing working platinum spark plugs after 30K (vs. after 60K) make anything better?[/B]
You will not notice the slow deterioration in performance because it is so gradual, but replacing the plugs will give you restored power that you did not knwo that you had lost. MPG and accelleration, as well as idle smoothness, should improve. Also burns more fuel, resulting in fewer waste deposits being left in your engine.

[4B]. Will flushing & changing automatic tranny fluid make shifting smoother even if the fluid has always been changed at scheduled maintenance intervals?[/B]
It is preventive maintainence. You don't use it to fix problems, you do the flush and fill regularly to reduce them.

[5B]. Watcha gonna do with your Max when your auto-tranny dies of old age? [/B]
5 speed conversion.
