An ex-Nissan tech told me that the coil problem is mainly with the 99 and newer Maxima's. Yes, just one year of 4th gen and the 5th gen cars. Does this seem to be the case on this list? I have a '97 SE and have not had any problems in the first 110k miles.

 

Yep, its mainly the 99's with the early coil problems.

After 110k though, I wouldn't be surprised if one went bad.

At my last tune up, I had to change one. It broke as I was pulling it out to change the plug. 95 maxima at 143k miles though.

 

Its always nice to stumble apon these threads...after owning a 99 and not knowing this info...
