UDP and Lightened Flywheel

Does anyone have the two of these? Does your car rev a lot faster and if so how fast? Also since they say that the UDP helps by giving more power to the wheels and less lost power, does the lightened flywheel do the same? I have heard that you do not see any horsepower increases from a lightened flywheel.

Any comments would help.
Thanks,
Justin

I have this setup with an ACT clutch and the car does rev quicker in first gear but the thing you will notice most is the throttle is very touchy. Most people have a real hard time when they first get in my car and try to drive it because they either over or under rev it. . . It takes some time to get used to it.

As for power gains, I haven't dynoed my car since I upgraded about 6 months ago, but the power increase isn't too noticable. . . If you are thinking you will feel a major difference, you are mistaken and any difference would probably be from the UDP not the flywheel. . . Most only experience less than a 1HP gain from the flywheel if that.

Yeah which is funny because the UDP actually does show gains on the dyno. Don't the UDP and the flywheel connect to the crank?

Yes they do, but you are only replacing the flywheel and it takes away some weight but it is still connected to the starter gear and something else (It is too early to think of the name right now). If you lightened everything then you may see more gains, but lightening the flywheel only to 11 lbs. isn't going to show gains at all; Although anything less would probably greatly increase driveability problems.

my flywheel is only 5 lbs I did the act clutch along with the unorthadox racong flywheel and i do see quite a bit of difference. The car seems to get up and rev a lot easier. I personally think the flywheel was well worth it.

I hear somewhere that lightened flywheel will actually make you lose torque. And a loss of torque = loss of HP beacause i think its TQxRPM=HP or smoething like that. All a flywheel will do is make your car rev faster, give it a lower top speed and improve acceleration. Id rather have slightly slower acceleration, and compensate by other mods.

idk how true that is.... more hp/tq, the more acceleration. After all, isnt that what we are trying to achieve? not just numbers

actually they oppose each other....when u gain torque, sometimes u lose horsepower. when u gain horsepower, sometimes u loose torque. i might have lost some low end torque, but the max's dont have probs with low end power like all the honduh's do so it didnt really matter to me. I got the high end power which was very nice to see how my car got up and simply went faster.

i disagree with calsonic. my friend put in a 7.5 lb flywheel and centerforce stage 2 cltuch kit and i've seen him chirp 4th gear with 8" wide tires. i bet with the unorthodox pulley set it'd be rather large power gains all around. he says he can nail 5th but i've never seen him do it

Yeah thats what i got: 7.5lb flywheel and a dual friction centerforce clutch. I guess that is stage 3 then.

For those without the UDP, check the new group deal:
