lousy handling with the maxima??

don't know whether it's the car itself or because I may need to get new struts and springs soon but when I drive my car and do turns with it ...the car felt like a boat as though is was one of them piece of **** domestic V8s.....if it's the nature of the car's handling I would have to say it really sux.....compare the prelude SH I had before..damn missed that car........*sniff*

1. it's a 3000+ pound SEDAN, not a 2 door coupe
2. it's family oriented meaning it won't brake your jaws over bumps
3. Unless you have the SE variant, you hit the 'unsporty' maxima model.
4. yes steering is a little on the mushy side, but you get to appreciate it if you drive around for 4 hours a day.
5. checked your tire pressure lately? 36frnt/34rr is nice

I bet that the Prelude weighs around 3000 lbs as well. All other points are valid, though, especially the SE suspension and the tire pressure. GXEs and GLEs aren't quite as stiff as the SE. Your suspension could also be worn out.

Just get the OEM suspension out of the car. Lowering is an option as well, but not really needed just to make it handle much better. Go with some Tokico, KYB GR2, or KYB AGX's if you really want a firm ride with adjustability.

The car will come to life after you change the dampers.

That's what we're here for...to help you get the most from your Max!
This season Nissan's took 1st-3rd place in Chicago autocross which is all about handling. 1) Sentra, 2) Maxima, 3) Sentra, 4) Prelude.

I kept hearing how the Prelude is an understeering, underpowered boat.

my suggestion is not to post b17ches about the car. If you want a helpful response ... don't complain. Ask in a manner such as, "How can I improve the handling of my car?" But even before you do that, use the SEARCH FUNCTION. Coming from a sport coupe with double-wishbone suspension to a beam macpherson strut setup is going to be different; you have to understand about cars to understand why and how the difference is there. maxima is a luxury car, technically, and is geared towards a smooth ride, even though it is sporty.

My maxima handles good. Maybe if you invested money in your suspension yours would too.

For less than $1000 you can have a full suspension with which your car will handle like it's on rails.
