at high idle depressing clutch slows idle speed
First some history, I have a 95 SE w/ 140,000 miles on it. Not long ago I had an ACT modified street disk clutch installed. Since then I've had nothing but problems stemming from the install. Most recently there is a leak that I think is comming from the clutch hose. I've ordered a new hose and a rebuild kit for the slave cylinder. I'll be replacing and rebuilding this as soon as it arrives. My question, when I start the car and it's cold, the idle is high (normal), if I engage the clutch you can hear and see (tach) a decrease in engine rpms. So, is it correct to assume that the clutch isn't completely disengaging? I'm hoping the leaking clutch hose is the problem but is there something I'm overlooking? I can engage the clutch, slow the engine down but still shift into the gears w/ normal effort. ANy response is appreciated. Thanks.

I dunno if your leak has to do with it but my car does the same. Only in freezing weather though (think the gear oil is too heavy weight for the colder weather). Once I warm up or am in a warmer climate, everything is fine. So if you are in colder climate I would say it's the oil needing to be warmed up. Otherwise, it may have to do with your leak issue. Hope this helps.

I think the clutch thing may be normal. When you let go of the clutch in neutral, you are still engaging some other part of the tranny, like the flywheel, I'm not certain. That would account for the engine slowing down just a tad.
