here's how to make ure car start quicker

Alright guys, it's been a while since i've been *****in about how my maxima takes forever to start... i thought it could be fuel filter or perhaps the starter. Well i decided to take a trip to the dealership to drool at the new Z's and something caught my eye... NDIS. Nissan Direct Ignition System. I talked to the salesman and he was explaining how that means that the car starts right up because it doesn't have a distributer and that each spark plug has it's own coil and such... so i figured and talked some more to him and he convinced me that i should change my spark plugs and ALSO upgrade the wires that are connected to the spark plug! I guess it's time to not only change my plugs, but also upgrade to thicker ignition wires. I just thought i'd share that w/ you guys and if anyone has done this or have any feedback. Makes total sense to me!

That doesn't make sense to me. The NDIS system is supposed to be completely maintenance free. For the life of the car, you should only ever have to replace the spark plugs. OK, occaisionally you get bad coils, I'll let that slide. But wires, too?? No. A wire upgrade would only affect how much voltage would reach the spark plug, and apparently the NDIS system provides way more than enough voltage to the plug. So it should be able to handle the slight degradation of the wires from age etc. Not only that, those wires weren't made to be easily replaced at all.

That Nissan salesperson is probably just thinking about "old school" ignition systems with distributors and rotors etc.

Nadir check your PMs. As far as what the salesman said, he's right about the plugs. Yours could not be igniting well, which is a direct connection with cranking time. As far as the wires, like dwapenyi said it is really maintainance-free. The chance that a wire went bad is very unlikely.

Yeah thats kinda old now. When you get spark plugs that create more spark and larger plug wires which increase the spark also. Its a good way to get a better burn while driving also. More Combustion=better fuel mileage. And It will start the car quicker also because of the increased spark.

upgraded wires do not affect voltage in the slightest.

they affect current.

don't think anyone even makes "upgraded" wires for this app...

Nissan certainly doesn't...
