Tire questions....

Plenty of questions now that the subject has arisen. My pops got a flat in my Max (scraped a curb on the highway). Front right tire is gone on the stock Honeycomb rims. The tire was a Goodyear Aquatread 3 (205/65/15). The rim is allright, a couple little dings but thats it.

1. Where is the cheapest place to find this tire?
2. Will there be damage to the stock suspension by riding on a spare or is it better to keep it in the garage until we get a replacement?

I think those are all my questions for now... Thanks for the help.

Bump...

And... My dad was talking to some folks...$140 uninstalled (tirerack is $64). They were saying how it might vibrate because it is a brand new tire. All the other tires have about a year left. Any thoughts?

Take the tirerack quote (with the shippign estimate) to sears. THey will price-match it- no waiting. I know from experience. Good luck. For what that other shop wants you could replace the PAIR at the tirerack price...

So should I replace the pair, the two front wheels? That way there will be even wear...? Do you think having a brand new wheel, and all the other wheels with one year left will make a difference in terms of vibration, ride, handling etc?

If you only have about 1 year left on the old ones, I would at LEAST replace a pair. I know that is sounds easy to SAY replace all 4 and that it is not so easy to afford, so if I were you I would do 2. It can cause uneven wear of all the tires (even the new one), braking shimmy, vibrations, all kinds of bad things.

I had to replace a tire recently also. The other 3 tire have about 11K on them, so the guy at the tire place said to put the new tire on the rear until it wore in a bit. He rotated the 3 old ones in such a way that the replacement tire went on the left rear. If you can only buy one tire, you may want to do this as well. Good luck.
