need help w/ electrical problems...
I really could use some help on something if you guys wouldnt mind.It was snowing a lot last night and I had my door open to get somethign out of my car, while doint that snow got all over the drivers door panel and the snow melted over night and the water probably got into the switches. Then this morning none of my winows would go down on any of the switches and the doors wont lock from the switch on the drivers side door panel. WHen I use the remote to lock the doors, the drivers side door wont lock or unlock, and the blinkers dont flash when the doors are locked. I dont know if i shorted out everything, or blew a fuse... If i shorted it out, wouldnt the windows still go down from the individual switches on each door, or would the whole circuit go out?I would really appreciate some help as to why this is happeneing and how I might be able to fix it. thanks

check your fuses
Check your fuses first. If you fear some water is still in the switches you can try an electronic parts cleaner like CRC or a small amount of WD40 to displace the humidity.
If it shorted out, the operation of all the windows could be affected depending on how it is wired (since you can open all windows from the drivers door). I mean, if the power for the other windows is routed through the drivers main switch. I don't remember if our cars have a window lock button, but I think this cuts power to all other windows.
Thinking about it, seems as if no power is reaching the components in the driver's door. If you have access to a multimeter or a tester light, you can remove the doorpanel and check if there is any voltage reaching the door circuits. If that's the case you might try to get an electrical schematic from a service manual or a Haynes manual and try to hunt the short. Or you can just get it to a decent electromechanic.
Hope you can find it!
Out of curiosity, leave the drivers door already locked and try to close all door locks with the remote. The lights might not blink because the alarm will not arm unless all doors are locked.

Re: check your fuses
my car has a window lock button but that isnt the problem, I cant open any of the windows from anywhere. If i lock the drivers door from the inside and then close the door, the alarm still wont arm. I can unlock and open all the doors except the drivers door with the remote. I have a haynes manual and got a chance to look at it tonight, maybe I'll be able to fix it myself
