How to make the dome light fade out....
Well, I was looking at my Max the other day at night, with my aftermarket alarm, when I lock the car (activate alarm), the dome light suddenly turns off at the same time that the door locks. Same thing when I open and close the door, dome light quickly goes on and off. I want to know if there is any way I can configure the light so that when I close the door or activate my alarm, the dome light will slowly fade out, and not just turn off quickly. This is on most of the new cars and I think it looks nice, luxurious even. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.

try lookin in the audio/electronics section
i somehow remember this coming up before... something about using capacitors to hold enough juice to keep the light on for a bit and then the cap slowly discharges hence the light slowly dims out

i think you need to buy a specific capacitor ... need to use some physics equations along with how long you want the lights to fade.
like i said do a search, im pretty sure there were enough details to figure out whatever else you need to get it working

i think any cap will work, i mean, just get the right voltage, but any capacitance is fine, just depends on how fast you want it to discharge.
lights draw a lot of power, 10W or so.
at 10W, a 12V light will last only .0144s on a 1000uF cap, but i bet that is long enough.
F*V^2/W=s
where V is the change in voltage, in this case, 12V-0V=12V
a 1000uF cap should only cost a few bucks though, just wire it properly or it will explode.
