Miles per tank??

How many miles per tank do you guys get? So far I have 148.2 miles and the tank is exactly half full. So figure I'll get around 300 for the full tank. I floored it to redline about 10 times since I filled up. Is this mileage good bad or avg?

Oh and I only have an intake and my TB is still dirty. 80k miles on car.

your tank probably won't make 300 at the rate its going.
with similar driving, i get more mileage from the first half of the tank than the last half. something about the shape of the fuel tank.

You have to remember guys! He's automatic! Don't compare his car to your car if you have a manual. You're scaring him by telling him he's getting terrible gas milage. He's NOT, that's average for an auto that drives city.

Ok, I have a 96 GXE automatic and with supreme (93) gas i always get above 400 miles. Maybe an overall tuneup will help, and btw i have 88k miles on it.

Do you drive in an area with very few stoplights or mostly highway?

I usually get between 330 and 350 miles per tank. Road driving. Not with stoplights, but with many large hills. I haven't had the car long enough to test highway, I think it will be more than 350 though.

are the milage based on the halfway mark and then doubling the milage? Also is there a low gas light warning or should I just use the force to see how far a tank will go?

that I'm not sure about. I just got my half way point and doubled it-but some people are saying that's not accurate. I guess you could get it as close to empty as possible and add like 5 or 10 miles.

I pretty much always get 400 miles per tank (about 16 gallons). That's close to 25 mpg. I have a 95GLE Auto with 204,000 miles on it. A very dirty Throttle body and a dirty air filter and about 7000 miles since my last oil change. (Yes i'm going to work on it this weekend)

I usually get around 340 miles per tank (320 on 17 galons). My worst tank was 290 or so.

I drive about 50% of the time in the city (Chicago) which could contribute to me never seeing 400 miles per tank, but still, I think the only way one could get pass 400 miles is by driving 55 mph almost all the time without too many stops and traffic.

Going by the gas guage is not an accurate way to measure mileage. you need to calculate miles per gallon.
