Fuel cut on a 95 SE

I have a 95 SE 5-speed I got about a month ago, I enjoy it very much. However, the other night I was coming home really late and I was the only one on the bridge so I decided to punch it. I was cruising along enjoying the ride till about 120-125ish when it felt like I hit a brick wall. I was not near redline assuming tach is correct. I was told that the SE didn't have a fuel cut or any limit on top speed, was I misinformed or is there something else going on.

If your car is a TRUE SE, then you shouldn't have this problem. What exactly are all your mods. Sometimes, depending on what you have, the car is already topping out at that time......

Were you close to empty? Same thing happened to my '99 the other night. My cousin said his old Mustang ('96) did the same thing and that it was some sort of safety feature. I dunno...I filled up and it didn't do it again, so problem solved.

It is a TRUE SE and it is currently stock. It wasn't topping out, when you top out there is no sudden decelration like you hit a wall. I wasn't redlining it either. I had half a tank of premium as well.

Same thing happend to me too, i was on "E" and going to the gas station then i decided to rip it on the highway to get rid of my old gas....cut off at 110. Filled it up..went on to 135ish.
BTW i have a 99 too.

Perhaps your SE has a GXE ECU in it for one reason or another? Though 120-125 is a strange speed... the governor occurs about 116mph on GXEs.

it's probably a safety feature so you don't run out of gas. it probably stops the camshafts from phasing if there isn't enough gas.

just a guess.
