I just test drove a 99 SE manual yesterday evening that has 49,000 miles. The only options I have are power roof and power driver's seat (unless this was standard equipment). I negotiated a price of $13,500 with the dealer.
The asking price for the car was $17,500 which was way too high based on my research. I found a nearly identical car advertised 45 miles away with an asking price of $13,950. I showed the dealer this ad and he offered me the $13,500 figure without any negotiations and I was comfortable with this based on my research and the fact that there were new tires and brakes on the car.
I am in St. Louis for reference.

How much should I expect to pay from a private owner for a 97 SE 5spd? Also, where can I find the red/clear tails for it, that is a must have. Thanks

I paid around $26,000 for my '97 SE 5-Speed.
It was brand new and had that new car smell.

Paid $8500 for my 97 SE 5spd with every option in Massachusetts. It did have 102k miles at the time, has 124k now and drives like a brand new car, havn't had any problems and don't fore see any for a long time.

You might want to check out the maximas that .org members are selling in the "For Sale" forum, great deals there!

and red/clears are here: http://www.custommaxima.com/RedClearTails.php

I just bought a 98 Se black/black fully loaded with every option but the moon roof wind defletor with 55k miles for 13k in Massachusetts. Oh yeah I didn't have to pay any sales tax because it was sold within family. My mom sold it to me so she could make room in the garage for their LeMans Sunset 350Z Touring 6-spd.
