cleaning up valve covers
my cars got 113k on it and i can tell that the engine bays never been clean...i was looking for ideas of how to clean up the valve cover and intake manifold to get rid of the ugly discoloration that happens over time with out taking them off the car i doubt an engine degreaser would make a diference...any one have any ideas?
If you want to go for the polished look, Wet/Dry sand paper(330-1500 grit) and Mother's aluminum polish. Expect to spend a good weekend doing this though (and lots of elbow greese), the results are worth it. Need anymore info, just post up.

if my car was inside i'd take a quick pic to show you how dirty it is, but the mothers polish sounds like a good idea, that'll do any of the aluminum parts right so i could use it on the intake manifold too...hows it usually hold up?
When my friend sends me the pics from his digital cam, I'll show ya. It looks great and holds up well; I just repolish it every once in a great while (like every 6 months or so) to keep her shinin.
