Could be the upper oil pan gasket and/or the rear main seal. You might as well replace all of them while in there. Its a pain in the ***** too. I just did mine and my car still isnt back on the road.

Umm if you have fluid seeping from around the rear main seal, don't ya thing that the REAR MAIN SEAL may be the culprit?

when you remove the oil pan you will see that there are 2 crescent shaped gaskets that go in between the upper oil pan and the engine block. the rear one actually seats in between the rear main seal bracket and upper oil pan.

to properly install it the upper pan and tranny have to removed at the same time. it will be a biatch.

remove the dipstick when you are reinstalling the pan.

from my experience i would say it looks like the seal between the pan and the rear main seal bracket. if i were you i would replace the RMS, the crescent seal, a re-silicone the entire upper oil pan.

I'll say its the oil pan Seal. I think if it was the main seal it would have leaked onto the flywheel and the flywheel wouid have sprayed it all around in a circular pattern.

i urge you to reconsider and redo the pan. however if you red the RMS only then i suggest that you clean thoroghly and silicone the $hit out of the whole area.

i have had the RMS done twice but i am still having the same problem with the oil leak.

99% of the cars you pull a transmission off of are going to look like that. The fact is there is no perfect seal, and there is always going to be a little seepage, unless the seal is brand new. The question is how much is it leaking? If it is not contaminating the clutch, or if it's not leaving drops on the driveway, don't worry about it.
