Torque Converter Lock up Question, please help

Hello Everyone, I have a 1998 Infiniti I30 with a somewhat interesting problem. With the car's transmission in drive and the overdrive selected on, my vehicle's torque converter will not lock up at any speed or rpm untill its run for about 15 minutes. My previous car a 1996 infiniti I30 did not do this, as the torque converter locked anytime after the car was driven past about 40mph. I have about 67k miles on the new infiniti, and I am really worried about a serious transmission problem with it. Anyone have any ideas about this? I just drained the transmission fluid from the pan and put new fluid in and it didnt help.

The torque converter will not lockup untill the tranny fluid's temperature is warm. So it could be a simple case of the car running in very cold weather. I gather your newer I30 is experiencing colder weather temps than your previous I30?

I concur. My 1995 4th gen tranny works the same. It has to warm up before the lockup converter engages.
