CA or not CA???

For the Model Number on my car on the ID badge under the hood, the letters indicate that my car is a Cali spec vehicle. However, there are other things about my car, for instance the lack of 2 wiring harnesses near the front exhaust manifold, that indicate my car is not Cali spec. What gives? Is there any sure way to determine its proper spec? When ordering parts I'll need this info to be certain.

If you have 4 connectors up top by the radiator it's Cali Spec. If you only have 2, it's Fed spec.

Then what's with the model numbers and the fact it specs out a Cali Spec? I'm happy and willing to accept a non-Cali spec car, I'm just perplexed by the discrepancy.

Any more useful insight on this matter? This is especially important for ordering Y-pipes and stuff. What is the big difference in the Y-pipe between the fed spec and cali spec?

If your Cali spec your Y pipe will have a flange after the front pre cat. Fed spec cars don't have this flange. Look under your car, under the very front splash shield. (Kind of under the radiator) You'll see a flange on the exhaust pipe. That allows you to remove the Y pipe without taking the front pre cat out of the car.

Cali Spec cars have 4 o2 sensors on the Y pipe. One on each cylinder bank before the pre cats and one on each cylinder bank after the pre cats. Cali spec cars monitor the condition of the Pre Cats as well as the main exhaust cat.

If your Y pipe is one piece that includes both pre cats, then your fed spec. If your Y pipe is split up front via that flange, your Cali spce.

You'll have 4 connectors up top by the radiator as well. If you only have two, then your Y pipe is Fed spec.
