Will Straight pipe Effect Emisions- Any recommendations---EBAY ITEM LINK

they are selling a sraight pipe on ebay, for anyone who have a straight pipe, does it effect your emissions, harder to pass inspection?
if you change to a straight pipe is there anything else that you have to change with it , or does it just replace your cats without causing any problems?
if you change to a straight pipe , can you still add a Ypipe, or must i pick between either one,
What do you people reccomend, getting a straight pipe
a y pipe
or both (if possible)
thanks for any responses

Well, since its the items inside (ceramic cores) that clean out the emmissions, yes a straight pipe will make it impossible to pass inspection. Not to mention the fact it will fail visual inspections. They are not worth the extra pollution and headache for a couple HP. (if that)

thank you for your quick response, now that i know there will be a problem to pass inspection i wont even bother getting it,
would you recommend getting a y-pipe , is an aftermarket y-pipe a dirrect fit, any mods to do if you switch to an after market y-pipe
would you recommend a y - pipe intstead
i heard that aftermarket y - pipes dont have no problem passing inspection if the car is warmed up before- so even if i do an inspection in the winter as long as my cars been warmed up for a few min, it should pass

Y-Pipes have been around or a while now. Many different companies making them. Warpspeed, Budget, Cattman, Stillen. All these companies have pipes that bolt right on. They are all about the same. Get the one you can get the best price on. As for passing emissions. The pipe eliminates two precats. These small cats clean the emissions before the main cat warms up. You WILL FAIL emissions if you take the test when the car is cold. What you have to do is make sure the main cat is nice and hot when you're taking the test. If you drive up to the inspection site and let the car sit for 30 minutes, you will probably fail. You need to keep the car at operating temp before taking the test.

If you get the Y-pipe.. 10-15hp
When inspection time comes around, go out for a nice long highway drive. An hour should do. Then go to an inspection site that most likely won't keep you waiting too long. You should pass..
