Cheap tires for 18" rims
Ok here's my deal, I am willing to spend roughly $1000 on a new set of wheels for my I30. Due to the price factor I was pretty set on getting 17's, but I found a website thats offering one of my favorite looking wheels (Rota Battles) for only $500 shipped! This seems like an amazing deal to me thats almost too good to pass up. The only problem is that I've been searching around and it looks like a decent set of tires will cost me more than the actual wheels! Does anyone know exactly what tires sizes I could use (I'm pretty sure 235/40/18) will work) and where I could find a good deal on some tires. The wheel size is 18 x 7.5

do you need all season tires?
or are summer performance tires enough?
for all seasons i'd go with Sumitomo HTR+ no question... i believe 129$ each.... rated 2nd best after some Michelin Pilots which are nearly twice the price!
for summer performance, i'd go with the same sumitomos 1st but i'd look into kumho ecsta 712s as well....

What about the pirelli P7000? I've read that its actually significantly lighter than other tires and my friend is pretty happy with them on his BMW. Does everyone agree I should go 225/40? I don't mind the speedo being off a tiny bit if its in exchange for a better ride/less chance of damanging my wheels.

cheap 18" tires
I've tried a couple of inexpensive tires. I had the Dunlop W10s, and now have the Kumho Exsta Supra 712s. I love the Kumhos. they provide great traction in the wet(I lived in Seattle), and are great on dry (now I live in San Jose). they are lasting a lot longer than the Dunlops also. I am running 245/40/18 that I saw on www.tirerack.com. I bought them at my local discounttire because they matched the internet price and could get them that day. I think I paid about $125 per tire which is awesome for 245/40/18. It's like M3 width, I love them. Good luck
