Besides, cars like V8 camaros or mustangs or the factory-turbo I4's have a set formula for modding the car. You can basically follow a blueprint of about 20,523 people that have done it before you to run a certain time or put down a certain amount of power. Once again, laaaaaame.

I've been driving for 5 years or so but what does that have to do with anything?

100% perfectly well said nismology. My feelings exactly. What's the surprise when a fast car goes fast?

ughhghghg I totally miss that thing. Id probably buy it back from you if you wanted to sell it...

I apologize if I ruffled feathers here, i'm mostly just beginning to realize how off-track my life got because of cars, more specifically the money I sank into my cars. Fortunatly I never got into any debt, but I could have been much closer to my goals of buying a house, buying my porsche turbo etc...

Ill have my masters degree soon, so Ive begun to start laying out my life, and realizing all the mistakes Ive made along the way. When I had my maxima, I wanted straight line speed and surprise. That would have come at a HUGE cost (at the time). I got the same thing out of my GTP, in what I believe was a more fun sedan. Pulley+alcohol+PCM+Grand Prix GT badges = quite a few surprised faces...

edit: running 16lbs of boost reliably, with a 1st gear that goes up to almost 60mph = far too much fun...

edit again: nismology - I totally agree with you. But I guess I reached a point where I realized that no matter how much money I sank into it, it was never going to be what I wanted. There seem to be many problems with making a maxima go fast. With any car, there is a glass ceiling that you eventually hit. When you cross that, it then becomes harder and harder to progress. With the maxima that point seems to come a lot soomer than other cars. And I never said anything about camaros, i think theyre lame, almost as lame as 5.0s. Thats why I loved my GTP. It was the v8 slayer grandma car...

I love my maxima. Yes Ive dropped a bunch of money into it but Ive got a 10 year young car that:
  • Gets 26 MPG running the A/C
  • Carries 4 ppl no scrunching
  • Still looks better that 95% of the cars on the road (fine, so thats purely personal taste)
  • Has seen thousands of VERY hard driving track miles and has never had any mechanical issues in those or its 140K miles (well, actually there was the one clutch that disintegrated at Infineon but that was not OE) But the engine just keeps going and is always ready for whatever.
  • Weighs 2850 lbs after some aftermarket
  • Can do LOW 14's, 0-60 in approx 5 sec and has passed many cars costing >5x its bluebook value on roadcourses.
  • Is really stealth until the hammer drops
  • Has got a Variable Intake! How friggin cool is that...
  • Is just one he11 of an all-arounder. I could go on and on...
