Cel

Anyone else experience this phenomenon:

My CEL went on during a long trip, I knew it was going to be an 0707 code (RH O2 Sensor) and decided I'll check and clear the code when I get around to it. Well, yesterday, I think I watched the light simply turn off. Does the O2 sensor work over a cumulative period of time? And another funny thing about the O2 sensor. It only comes on at the end of long trips (450+ miles), which says to me that the cat may not be working properly at highway speeds. The fact the light went off indicates that the cat works better at lower temps (most of my driving is only a few miles to work, class, home, etc, all within a 5 mile radius).

Is this weird O2 sensor behavior? The business with the CEL makes me think the O2 sensor is doing its job just fine and the cat isn't working properly. Any good input from anyone?

Your o2 sensor is getting tired. Replace it now or wait till the light comes back on and stays on for a while. Your choice.

The "Left" and "Right" upstream O2 sensors do not monitor cat converter function directly. The "rear" downstream sensor reading is compared to the front readings to monitor the cat.

I agree with Tom. Just wait and see if it comes back on.
