97 Maxima Front and Rear Caliper Pins Same

Just did rear brakes on 97 SE. Rear caliper pins were really worn (150,000 miles on car). No one had rear caliper pins in stock but could special order for $19.00 each (NAPA). Thought the rear caliper pins looked familiar, compared them to old front caliper pins off 97 I30 (yes I am a pack rat and save old parts) and they were identical. Then bought 4 new front caliper pins for $23 total. Worked like a champ! Second car I've put Raybestos Quiet Stop Pads on, really like them. Saved almost $60 and got car done that day!

Maybe you can help me....will the calipers from a 300zx (30mm)fit my 97 max?

I have the 26mm on mine but the install is still the same. Pretty simple, just involves a little grinding back of the lower control arm where it connects to the steering knuckle; and a little grinding back of the bolts which hold the calipers on. If ya need any more technical info you can e-mail me or post up.

Yes, the 30mm calipers will fit, but it also depends on what rims you have. You NEED to have aftermarket rims that allow for the added size of the calipers, or you can just get 300ZX rims.

The lower control arm just needs to be ground a little bit, about 1/8 of an inch. Very easy. In regards to grinding the bolts that hold the caliper on, you use your old ones.......

In response to that, my old bolts seemed to come awful close to the rotor when I bolted them on. Clearence was very tight (pretty much a mm or 2) so I did this as a precaution to make sure the rotor would not be damaged.
