Brake squel

Just changed the front pads to Performance Friction from AutoZone. I put this jelly thing on the pads before installing and reassebled everything like stock. But now I get better braking but it squels during hard braking.

ANy help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Victor

Yeah I have semi-metallic brake pads on my car and ever since they have squeeled. I learned that during hard braking, a layer of glass actually forms on top of the rotors from the semi-metallic pads... so when you brake again, you are hearing the squeeling of the glass being worn off again by the pads.

On semi-matallic pads, squealing is just something that has to be dealt with. Depending on the actual pads themselves, you may or may not get squealing. That "lube" that you put on eliminates/minimizes the squeal between the metal shims and the piston/pistons on the caliper.

Rabestos Quiet Stops

I bought a set of Raybestos Quiet Stops and lemme tell you I have NEVER been so happy with a set of brake pads. My stock Nissan pads sucked. They sqeaked every time I hit the brake no matter how light or hard I was braking. Simply awesome pads. As far as the low dusting claims by Raybestos. Yeah, whatever.

i put on some metal masters, and im very happy with them.
they don't squeel at all, perform much better than stock, and i have no problems with excess brake dust.
