Tranny question...down shifting at higher speeds. (Long)
HELP!!!! Tranny question...down shifting at higher speeds. (Long)
I was driving from a breakfast date with my girlfriend and i was coming down a nice long straightaway and what would you know another Max pulls out besides me and guns it. He had rims and an after market exhaust. So i let him take the lead and he floors it. He then slowed down realizing i didn't want to race. I just wanted to see what he could do and fast it would take for him to at least get to 110. He slowed back down to around 65. He sounded fast, but that was it. So i trail him until about a mile away from my exit and then i decide to let my baby loose. I turn the OD off and keep it off from around 70 to about 100 and then i turn it back on. I jumped all the way up to 115 but then i decided to give just a little more gas and it seems as tough the car downshifted and then jumped back into the higher gear. Did this happen because i applied more pressure to the gas pedal and didn't let the car accelerate on its own, or was it because my tranny is acting up. The car has never done this before on any high speed runs, but in the same instance, i've never applied more pressure on the gas pedal going that fast. I usually let the car accelerate on its own. A tranny cooler and VB mod is very near in my future, will this help out if the tranny is acting up? Thanks for the responses people.
