5spd Transmission problems --- Please Help

The shifter is extremely stiff during cold starts and it stays that way untill the car reaches normal opearating temperatures. The same thing with the clutch. It seems like it doesnt spring back into its original position fast enough after I let go of it when I change gears. What do u guys think?? I'm thinkin master/slave cylinder .... any ideas??

Thanx
Nas

It's probably more because this winter is much colder than the last few. Shift slowly until everything is warmed up. A bad master and slave cylinder would also exhibit problems when warm as well.

Well the shifts could be cause its cold but maybe there is air in the hydraulic system causing the pedal to not return normally.

hmmm so you guys are saying it is normal for the shifter to feel that stiff?? I dont recall this stuff happening last winter so I was kinda worried. Maybe the pedal thing is my imagination but I'll bleed out the system just to be on the safe side. Anyone else experiencing these kinds of problems??

btw thanx for ur input guys.

I wouldn't worry about it if it happens only when it's really cold, then goes away when the car warms up. Mine's been doing that for years, no problems. It's just the weather....

a full synthetic will improve this some...it will also help that stubborn downshift to 1st while you are rolling yet. I Bought amsoil for mine...they make a gl4 specific gear oil, but i think their standard gear oil is compatible.

bleed the clutch slave cylinder....it take 5 minutes if you have two people...or one person if you have a vacuum bleeder.
