How long do Fuel filters last.

How long do Fuel filters last.
The dealer told me that they replace the fuel filter at every 30K miles tune up.
Does that mean they last 30k miles, or that the dealer is cheaping out. That's like every 2 years (of course assuming 15k/y). How offten do you guys change your filters ?
PS.
What other filters are people using besides OEM, and how much is the price/durability difference etc...
