car only starts if I push the gas petal at the same time!!!

Ok heres the problem, My 95 Maxima GE recently had the starter replaced, now everytime I start the car, it wont with just turning the ignition, I have to push the gas petal at the same time!!!! Doesnt this mess up the fuel injection? Im not the originl owner, Ive only had it for a year, and other than this I have no other problems. The mechanic told me that this happens in the cold weather, and its expected, I dont know about that!!!! Any ideas?? any input is grealy appreciated, thanks and have a great day!!!

I have a similar problem myself. Occasionally it starts without stepping on the gas peDal but more often than not, I have to push the gas pedal to get it started. I cleaned the TB and it didn't make any difference. I replaced the fuel filter about 2 months ago.
Fuel doesn't seem to be an issue, as I have plenty of power at high RPMs.

Check the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor values when the car is cold.

Check the adjustment of the TPS sensor.

Check the plunger that activates the high idle circuit, it's down under the linkage, to the left on the throttle body. It's should pop out and hit a cam to open your TB up slightly when starting cold.

Could it be that the plunger pops out only if you blip the throttle?

I have very recently started to experience the same thing. I have always parked my 96SE in the garage ever since I owned it. Since I am moving soon and need the garage space for storage, I have been parking the car in the drive way for the past week. Night temperature gets a little below 50 where I live. First few mornings I had to give it some gas in order to get the car started. Being that it had never happened before when the car was parked in the garage, I naturally assumed it was due to the cold weather. In the past two days I started doing something different and the problem "kinda" went away. Before I turn the ignition, I depress the gas pedal and hold it there for about a second. Then I turn the ignition on and car fires right up.

I cannot explain the logic but it worked for me.

I have the same problem but it doesn't happen everytime. sometime the engine starts for a couple of seconds and just dies. Usually starts up fine after the first try. I've tried everything that you guys have tried. Could it have something to do with clogged EGR lines/valves or clogged Idle Air Control Valve? I remember reading a post about some guy who cleaned out his entire EGR and IAC system and said his engine started better. Could a BG flush solve this??

I'm stumped...
