Will measure mine on Tuesday

Its already on, but wont' take long to take the muffler off and slap a measuring tape on it. I didn't even think to measure it before the install However, it did feel bigger than my stock pipe, but that is as accurate as a butt dyno!! lol

Either way, doesn't seem like performance gains will be any different, and it looks and sounds good, so.....

Does anyone know if the 97-98 OBX system would fit a 99? I am contemplating buying the one IVAN (i think is his name) is selling in the for sale forum.
Thanks,
Dan

No doubt a reputable shop like Budget can fashion you a superlative B-pipe with Stainless and mandrel bends for a reasonable amount. South of the border though, I think you will be hard pressed to find one of these for less than $300. Of course, the OBX is not installed so you can tack on some premium there. With regard to customization though, I think most people have no idea how many resonators they want (or if they can live without them) or things of that nature until the cat-back is installed and they are not happy with the sound. Then they will be paying extra for such modifications done to it, eg. adding a resonator or going with a different muffler. Not quite the same thing for comparison purposes.
Actually its pretty easy to install it yourself (DIY, hey araffio- I used the right term this time )) I install mine myself, used some hose clamps to straighten the muffler and cost extra $20 for a shop to twist the bpipe. I also thought of getting a custom catback before this but I figure with Budget costing about $120 for bpipe and a decent quality muffler costing anywhere from $100-170 plus cost for a shop to put it on, I went with OBX. Also at the time before we knew all these problems about the OBX, it sounded really great.

Also, if you haven't received yours yet, email ssautochrome, he sent me a fedex tracking page for the 2 packages.
I always thought pipe was measured by outer diameter

yes it is, but i think they measured it the right way, however their muffler tip looks kind of different...could be because of lighting....

after hearing that all these people are not entirely satisfied with their OBX purchase. I've been seriously considering it.
I dont entirely understand this low hanging thing. How easy is it to fix?

I received my cat back in the group buy and my pipes are 2.5 inches OD as stated in the ad measured with my Mitutoyo digital caliper. My tip measures just a tick under 4 inch---3.780.

my own opinion about the obx

Hey guys did you guys have to do a little extra work to keep yours from rattleling..When I had mine on my max it vibrated a bit because Obx didnt weld a post to the b pipe to hang it to the factory ruber hanger..I had a very annoying vibrating sound coming from the back and the middle of the car.I had to go back under the car and do some looking around and adjustments..I was very unhappy with this catback,Its not a direct bolton like they advertise it..the tailpipe has to be ghetto rigged to get it from going to the left, also the b pipe hangs very low and has to be lifted by taking to a shop to heat it up,Also the factory hanger post dont fit on the obx(the one on the b pipe)I dont call all this a direct bolt on if I ran into all this fittment issues,Also some obx cats are louder then others, and some are 2.5 and some 2.25..In my opinion this catbacks have serious defects that Obx sould be aware of..If you have this catback and you dont agree that this setup kinda sucks then you are in denial..I would have gladly, spent 100$extra to get a better setup.Im trying to sell mine now,but If I dont I think I will call obx and try to get my money back ,this cat back comes with a warranty. And Im going to tell them about all the fittemt isses and diffrent b pipe sizes, maybe then they will correct the defects..In my own opinion yes this is a good looking cat but not all of them are the same, many of us got diffrent cats either some are louder or some have smaler b pipes..I just decided to keep my stock b pipe and muffler.I love the sound with the stock back on..very quite no loud annoying drone in lower rpms, when I had the obx I had a loud drone from 1500 to 2000 rpms..I tried every thing to get rid of the drone but I was unable too.I dont understand how people say its very quite when its not,Its quite at higher speeds ,but for around town driving it is loud and very annoying..makes you think your driving a clunker car because of the loud drone..if everyone here reported all the problems they have had with theirs, then you would agree with me that this is not a good cat, must people are just in denial ..its an ok cat back but it would be a great cat back if the fittment issues and noise issues were corrected..I know I will get flamed by people who love theirs but hey, some of us hated ours.

I really could care less right now what anyone says about the OBX system. Mine is just fine and I love it.
The minor things I had to do for it to fit perfect were not a problem. It looks great and the sound is very quiet considering I have a y-pipe. There never were any vibrations that had to be fixed.

Maybe thats why yours is so loud? you dont have the right one? its 2.5", instead of stating facts of it being 2.25", you should have made a post asking what the size of everyone's is. You seen me and arrafio talking about it being 2.5" in the past and its advertised everywhere as 2.5", why would u just throw out the fact that its 2.25" without proper research?
lol, look at the pic above, that's proper enough research for me, also, look at everyone elses post about it being 2.25"... Maybe you just got lucky and got 2.5" ...

yea could be, so far 4 people have 2.5" piping, the rest have 2.25...and look at my muffler above vs. the other guys. Mine is exactly 4.0 inches while his is under 4 inches. its not even acactly 4 inches if u look at it. ah well, like arrafio said, i got the real deal, i feel unfortunate about those that didnt....but if your happy wit what u got, good for u

lol, well when u ask for yours, tell them that some people received 2.25" pipes and that you want to make sure yours is the 2.5" catback that was advertised. Also threaten them if u have to because its really f*cked up to advertise something that u dont sell, especially AFTer taking the money.

i'm with this dude on his measurements.
i didnt even get mine yet but i think everyone expected WAY too much. the catback (under this GD price) costs less than 300 bucks.
"problems" :
1) tip diameter- why does it really matter anyway? let it go
2) fitment: it hangs low..if you look closely, you'll see the way pipes hang on some factory cars! looks like its about to bang on the road. (not saying its a good thing but it can be dealt with)
3) this debate about bpipe diameter..ok its bad if they say 2.5" and its not. but seriously, if you all get blown at some point then hopefully youll have a 2.5", but if youre going to stay n/a then SCREW it. lots of catbacks for our cars come 2.25" and its great for our normal setups.
screw noise, screw looks, screw it all.
does anyone have pics of the b pipe diameter yet?
