resonator removed = louder exhaust???

ok im not really sure about this, but i keep hearing people talk about removing the resonator makes a modified exhaust louder. is this true? if so, how do i do this? mostly i hav heard ppl talk about this in terms of the obx bolt on exhaust. i hav a hanabi muffler. if i take this "resonator" out will it be louder. let me know.

for the record i did do a search but nothin came up except things to do with the obx. and it didnt help me at all. thanks

It won't be that much louder but the sound quality (depending on who you ask) won't be as good. It'll be raspier, more metallic, have more of an edge to it. If that's something you want then go for it.

Any muffler shop should be able to cut it off and replace it with a pipe welded in, and to go back would be the same prodecure. Don't spend more than $50 to have it cut out or put back in.
