I bought my 96 SE used. I noticed some corrosion and rust in the engine bay and the undercarriage of my car. Should I be concerned? If anyone could give me any advice, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

in your engine baY?

Hmmm...I say you buy a rust converter and sand off the rust, apply the converter and then paint it with a brush. It won't look that great but it will keep it from rusting further.
Your undercarriage is going to rust. Mine is rusty on the surface, but there are no holes anywhere so I am not concerned...mines a 95.

I bought a '96 Maxima used from a dealer and found out it came from Long Island as a lease vehicle. I was disappointed in the lack of rust protection on the undercarriage (just had thin grey primer from the factory). Rust was starting in places, and this was two years ago!! I cleaned the undercarriage, primed w/ Rustoleum spray paint and used about 15 cans of gloss black Rustoleum paint. Its held up well on other cars I've used it on, so we will see.
