I emailed the guy before even start bidding, but he didn't have any pics on maxima. Also, I did the search on Ebay and I found only his lights in that color at the time. Anyone know Altezza review website or something like that? Or why don't just all of us place our pics of Altezzas and where we got them and for how much, so others don't get screwed like we were?! It would be a nice idea if somebody didn't do that yet.

No of course not. Everyone replaces their stock SE rims with GXE hubcaps. And the missing spoiler, chrome window trim, chrome doorhandles, missing fog lights, etc. don't mean jack either. It's an SE for sure.

Unless it was in a rear-end collision that knocked all of the black-out trim, the fogs, and the wheels off (and they were replaced by inferior parts) I have to say GXE w/ SE gauges.

Can SOMEONE run a carfax for him? Or have him post the VIN for decoding...

my VIN says my car is a GLE, therefore it is insured as a GLE.. i don't think that is very accurate.

Here are 5+ people, all Maxima enthusiests, telling you that you have a GXE and you are so stubborn to still insist you have an SE. If you had an SE, you would have a spoiler (or spoiler holes), you would have black window trim (not chrome as seen in your pic.) and yes, you would have SE rims (not GXE hubcaps). And I can't see the rest of your car in your pics but I assume you have chrome doorhandles (a sign that it is a GXE) and you probably don't have fatcory fog lights (a sign it is not an SE). Give it up bro., no one is going to beleive that someone bought an SE and traded out the window trim, took off the spoiler and filled in the holes, downgraded to hubcaps, etc., etc.... Just accept it, change your sig. and stop being stubborn.

Just because you know more about a car's trim levels than someone does not make you a better person. Just because you have different tastes than others does not make you a better person. Just because you drive with a clutch does not make you a better person. It also, in fact, does not make you any smarter.

Whooptie doo, you are all more experienced and knowledgeable on the Maxima. Would you like a cookie? Does that mean you can pick others apart that are just trying to start on the same path you did? Does that mean you can block the passing of information on to others so that they can learn, instead opting to poke and riddle them simply because they don't know as much about the Maxima as you?

He's just starting out, like all of you once did. Do him a favor and help him out constructively instead of being flame-throwing eThugs.

To the ones who actually had more to say than "why do you only have 2 pedals?" and fill your posts with sarcasm, . To the rest, . Grow up.

Blah, blah, blah. People were not giving him ****, they just could not understand why he thought he had an SE. You think this was jumping down some ones throat? Then you have never seen any real flamming on the org.
It was just members trying to educated another. I can see why they got a little frustrated.

I am the one with the "two pedal comment". It was a damn joke, sorry you could not pick up of the sarcasim.

I have seen plenty of flaming on the many other forums I go on. Off-topic.net being the biggest. There is much, much worse, but as happyricefob said, he is here to learn and enjoy his car just as much as you all are, and you are not allowing him to have that same experience that you all have.

I actually did pick up on the sarcasm on the two-pedal thing, as i mentioned it explicitly : "To the ones who actually had more to say than "why do you only have 2 pedals?" and fill your posts with sarcasm..."

I don't have my smilies backwards. Check my sentence if you're confused. As for "newbie", I don't see how the date I registered on this forum has anything to do with my credibility in an argument or the validity of my points, seeing as (since you want to use that as an indirect argument against me) I registered almost a year before you.

who is not allowing him to a learning expierence? I guess you mean me, since you are responding to my post.

Happy:
nah... i don't mod for racing, i mod to gain more knowledge and experience in car... i enjoy moddin my max every bit, and once i accomplish i feel great... tat's all. thx for the offer though...
Me:
That's what it's all about.

Your statues says Newbie, hence I called you a Newbie. I guess you think it means a lot that you filled out a registration form and returned an email before I did.

I did have more to say than the comment about his car being an auto. I said had a nice ride.

Got no problem with you dude. Just did not like the way you attacked me in and others in your first post. I was not giving this guy a hard time at all in this thread. I actually backed up what he said so I don't need you trying to call me out.

I filled out a registration form because when I did, I owned a Maxima at the time. I had the full intention of gaining knowledge on my car because I was more than the average newly-licenced kid with a car- I took an interest. 2 or 3 posts later my timing belt broke ('86 with 250,000 miles) and ruined my valvetrain, so I bought a new car. I started out just as naive and curious as happyricefob, and it was not too long ago that I was in his own position, which is why I feel the need to speak out. I have built my knowledgebase and experience through the help, insight and experience of the members of the forums I have frequented (honda-tech, clubsi norcal... if you want to know, I own an Acura =P). As I said, I have been in the same position and encountered the same kinds of responses; back then I didn't know what I do now in terms of cars and literacy, so now that I had the opportunity to help out someone I used to be, I took it.

I didn't mean it directed to specific people. Frankly, I only quoted your two-pedal quote because it was the only quote I could remember while replying and I didn't really want to go back through the pages. My point was the call out those who seriously had nothing constructive to contribute, so if you felt like I was attacking you directly, I apologize. to you, sorry for any misunderstanding.

First off, his car is a GXE. Second, I have a GLE with a wing (Im SPECIAL ) and 3rd. Why hate on the man? He has a Lighter car then all us GLE and SE guys. So stock auto for Stock auto. He would be winnin the race more then likley.

Sorry we have info ***** in here. I would rather have info ***** who correct people in harsh ways than people who spread half truths nice and what they "heard of" nicely because all that creates is 100s if not 1000s of the same topic because facts become skewed by different opinions of the same issue. You know this topic comes up frequently so why not have the truth dispel erroneous info?

The insurance card doesn't mean anything. I had a different insurance carrier in the past and it listed my SE as a GXE/GLE. You CANNOT decode the trim based on the VIN. It can only be done on the metal placard that is affixed on the firewall. This info is in the Factory service manual if you own one. If you do not, it's already clearly laid out in the FAQ thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....&pagenumber=2. Even though the FAQ on the top of the forum page has over 78,000 views, based on most of the posts in here I'm sure most of you haven't even bothered to look at it.

Here are some tell tale facts that your car is not an SE. Your steering wheel is all plastic. SE models have leather on the steering wheel rim standard (which should be included in the FAQ ). Also your turn signal stalk doesn't have the foglight switch on it (thought the factory offers a kit that can be installed onto GXE/GLEs). Foglights are standard on SE models. Couple with what others mentioned (chrome window trim, chrome door handles, etc) you have a GXE.

Also before you installed the gauge flaces the stock faces behind them are black, correct? SE models came standard with white face clusters. We have people here swapping out steering wheel/airbags from different trims and different model years, installing GLE wood interior in other trim models, changing the grills, etc. Go check the metal placard thats on the firewall on the passenger side for the definitive truth (even though we all know its a GXE )

Steel wheels with hubcaps
Chrome grill on 97-99 models
Manual A/C

You have an ITR... the SHIFT_@8400RPM gave it away...

I am (and always will be) a member of Maxima.org, even though I currently have a 4dr GSR (Shift_8000RPM ). I will always hold a special place in my heart for the Maxima... As i30tMikeD once so eloquntly put it, "I have a feeling we will be seeing [me] in a VQ soon..." ("me" substituted for "you".)

I LOVE Maximas, but I also really enjoy my B18c1, as I am sure you REALLY enjou your B18c5!

Last, but not least, it is Pedal, not petal. A petal is the colorful, soft, smelly part of a flower, as in "rose petal."

Thanks.

While we're at it. WTF is a "squash air spencer"? Is it a squash-scented air freshener? IF so, why squash?

Or am I completely off track?

now it's time for the most helpful part of the whole thread: Call your insurance company and have them change it. Since the SE is considered the sporty maxima, you may have to pay less for a regular max.

I believe it is herramienta. However, I don't think it has QUITE the connotation in spanish that it does in english.

Instrumento also means tool, and that could sound a little more like the english sexual connotation of "tool."

You are welcome Sprint!

To the ones who actually had more to say than "why do you only have 2 pedals?" and fill your posts with sarcasm, To the rest, . Grow up.

Nick
I really don't get you guys.

dLo: Who ever said knowing about Maxima trim levels makes you a better person?! Block information?!!! Block what information? By listing all the ways to identify a GXE vs an SE, that is passing on education. Happy himself thanked us for the info. Who's picking or riddling or flaming?

JetBlack: Who is hating?!! And who ever said anything negative about the GXE?!!

Some people hated on him because he wasnt "sure" about his Trim of his max. Its a GXE. Hatin on him because he thought he had an SE making it sound like He Tried to Have a better car then what he has, thats the way it sounded, did it not? And GXE is the standered Model, a lot of ppl think negative of it. Hes lighter, thats his advantage over us SE and GLE guys. Thats what Im saying, either way, squash all that. Hes a Max owner, thats the only important part. He could be a Honda owner, then we could all have the right to hate on him

That's what I was getting at, I don't think anyone 'hated' on him, they were correcting him. You may see it as hating but it was simply correcting. And never anywhere did anyone ever say the GXE is not as good as the SE or GLE. Where do you see that? Once again, you are reading something that isn't there.

You are all like one big married couple, and I agree with the Member who said something to the effect of, 'Lets all just help him out, and stop the sarcasim'

THis is a forum to learn about our fine Maxima's and to help each other, not to mock and bash his car. People make mistakes(I.E. Insurance people) so the Insurance company believes it's a SE, and it isn't, so what. He will change it, and no harm done.
