Check engine light, real quick help.

My friend just got a 95 max 5spd, he got it off ebay. Couple days later when hes driving it and the check engine light came on. What could be some of the usual problems? The oil and all the fluids are ok. Should i do a diagnostics test or soemthing?

Lucky for me my dad works at an auto shop, so I can just drive mine down there every time the CEL comes on and get it professionally done

Bro there's nothing professional about it, you just pop off a panel near your accelarator turn a flat head inserted in a screw to the right for 2 seconds, and turn it back count the blinks (long, short) type 'em in the database, VOILA you know what's wrong .

I've been getting the CEL (aka SES) on my 99 SE and kept getting bogus codes. Had my mechanic clean my o2 sensor and no more CEL or SES.

Thought that might help.
