scratch

this has been really bothering me, can someone please help me? when i bought my maxima two weeks ago it came with a scratch on the trunk from it being keyed. It wasn't horrible but very noticeable, so I decided to try and touch it up. I bought dupli-color ALO paint (ruby pearl, the paint color of my car) and the dupli-color touch up kit (scratch filler & primer, clear coat, sanding paper, ultra finishing compound) . Now after using it, it looks 100x worse, i'm so frustrated. i think i put too much of something because the whole scratch area is now elevated and not level at all. the paint doesn't match, it looks lighter than the rest of the car's paint, and overall it just looks very bad. i'm too scared now to go and try something else unless I'm positive it'll help instead of make things much worse like it just did before. How much to get this professionally fixed? what's the best way to fix this for the least $$$??!?!! argh...

Try to wax that area that you put that stuff on, and buff it up. it might help a little to elevate the paint color.

the whole area is still physically elevated because i think i put too much primer or something, what do i do about that? and what kind of wax, does it matter? sorry but i'm really new to this stuff

Zero max, i used meguiar's scratch x before...the scratch has to be light surface scratch in order to work...if deeper u need to have it buffed out or used touch up paint..
