Yes it's possible.

If you get the parts used and do all the work yourself, it can be done for around $1000 or so. If you need to have somebody else do it for you (not mechanically inclined enough) then it will get rather pricey. Probably double or even TRIPLE that.

damn any reason the max is so expensive? for a 240, alot of ppl did the conversions, and it cost $500 or so for parts, some ppl got ripped off and paid up to 2k for the full swap from mechanics, and some people got it done for ~$500 with parts, and did the labor themselves

Let's see... a good used tranny $500, used axles $150, new clutch $2-300, flywheel and pedals $100... it all adds up...

Why do you keep asking the same thing. There's probably 50 people on this message board who have done this successfully, and another 50 people in the middle of it right now. If it wasn't feasible how did they get it done? It's not installing installing a set of altezza lights man, you are changing the 2nd most important component in the vehicle. It's not cheap and it's not easy but it obviously can be done, there's been like 4 people on this thread already who have done it. Stop asking if it can be done, it obviously can.

Yes. It's been done on 1995-1999 models.

You know... With all the yelling at Newbies about SEARCHING, you'd think the moderators (or the Administrator) would heed at least one of my PMs to make the SEARCH function a little more prevalent on the page. The first few times I came to the org, I didn't even know the damn thing existed because its so damn small and up there in the corner. Very easy to ignore.

So, once again... moderators? Administrator? Wanna maker that search function a bit bigger, maybe move it next to the "Post New Thread" link and make it bold and in red? I mean, damn, if you don't want to do something like this, it tells me you guys like yelling at Newbies.

How 'bout it?

It should be included in the user agreement.
and highlighted, in a 24 font, underlined, in bold and italic

also.. if it's that important, perhaps it should be posted above the forum links at the very top. A simple warning or a note saying something along the lines of the server being overloaded as it is, and for new and long time members to use the search function in the upper right hand corner of the screen prior to posting a question which was aleady likely discussed 12 times over. Or perhaps in a more traditional maxima.org oppressive mod. fashion - threaten them

I would suggest getting aftermarket parts and spend the extra money when converting so that you dont have to spend it later.

You know the ironic thing? If you would have used search, you would know that this very subject had been discussed and why the search button is not bigger.

...because searching for "search button", or "search link", or "search ______" will result in every single post made on the org making it impossible to find. I just tried and I couldn't find it.

Forget searching, try reading the FAQ! It seems like every stinking newbie that comes to this board thinks their idea or problem is so damn unique that no one has ever done it before. I know i did it once before, but i also spent 3 hours reading the FAQ and clicking every link on there before i made my first post on the forums, just so i'd avoid ****ing off everyone on here. ok i'm done.

welcome to the org!
