heater hose location?

heater hose location?
On the drivers side of the engine, there are two 1/2 dia hoses running along the side of the engine. Does anyone know which one goes TO the heater core and which one RETURNS from the heater core? I dont have a service manual to look at. Could someone tell me please?
I am assuming that the one that has the most hard line coming from the engine is the feed? (the upper of the two)
