Dont know who decided to do this but I dont think that the site will get any faster by removeing the search functionally on the site, because now instead of searchs everyone is dont a read and write alot more to the database.

 

Guess what? Your wrong. It has made the site much faster. Quit complaining. The search function will be back up once the new servers are up. Oh yeah, don't you think this post of yours is a further waste of bandwidth?

 

i still get the server busy page a lot

 

I have only gotten the busy page like once since the search function has been shut down, where as before i got it almost every time i tried to get on the org. So i think its helping alot.

It has definately helped. I only got that notice once since search has been disabled. Keep up the good work!

think i opened up a can of worms here, but i still think this is a great site and we have to remember not many cars get a dedicated site like this to discuss issues and exchange info online....i am sure the search function will be back soon and then we can get back to using the site the way we are use to...I sure would if my car didnt have problem that i needed to get fixed :P

half the time i get page can not be displayed when i try to long on . But it has got somewhat better.

You do not have to change your title when you donate- I think Nadir_S kept his.

Nice recovery. Much more mature than I expected- that is a good thing. Most donors will search if you ask them, or they will knwo the answer. If you scroll through a page or so, many new questions are repeats that were covered in the last day or so. If it is not there, just post the ? and someone will come to your rescue.

Searching is not a perk of Donating...

Off Topic Forum is a perk of Donating..

the only reason that Donating members can search and Regular members can't is because the Search function was temporarily removed to speed up performance of the server, however if someone donates to the site its not fair for them to suffer while we are trying to keep up performance before the server is back up.

so if you don't feel like donating.. don't donate for search, becasue the search will be back for ALL members soon..

 

Good points. I thought that Kevin was clear on this, but it is not a bad idea to remind.
