1 & 2 ok 2&3 ok 3&4 ?? IACV prob's

IACV_ Idle Air Control Valve.

Haynes manual say that between these connectors the resistance must measure 30ohms. 1 & 2.=30ohms 2 & 3.=30ohms 3 & 4.=0 ohms ??
4 & 5.=30 ohms, 5 & 6.=30 ohms.

what this means.
all the test completed fine , EXCEPT the 3 to 4 ohm reading, but the other readings with 4, 5, and 6 were fine.

Is My IACV gone bad.
I read a post about this a few weeks ago but i cannot find it now
<seeing as we dont have a SEARCH button anymore, i just love when new management comes along, always extra BS.>

What it REALLY says is....

measure the ohms between 1&2 2&3 4&5 5&6

you do NOT measure 3&4

Exactly. My FSM says to check 1&2, 2&3, 4&5, 5&6. At 20 degrees C (68 degrees F), resistance should be approximately 30 ohms. Key word is approximate. If it was bad, you'd most likely get infinite or extremely high.

Yep. Read the Haynes manual. Also read my Nissan Factory Service Manual. You are correct that the Haynes manual says to check 1&2, 2&3, 3&4, 5&6, but the FSM says 1&2, 2&3, 4&5, 5&6. Both say resistance should be approximately 30 ohms, with the FSM giving the temp at which it should be approximately 30 ohms (68 degrees F).
Now, the important question should be, which manual would you trust more? I'll take the FSM anyday (just like I'll take the stickers under the hood if there's a discrepancy). I'd say Haynes has a typo. And this could be why you got 0 ohms when you checked 3&4, but right on with the others.

My Haynes doesnt say to check 3&4?
Does your haynes have a red maxima on the cover? maybe
its a different version manual.

My Haynes is for '93-99 Maxima's, has a red Max on the cover (95 or 96 judging by the grill), and part # 72021. Picture 16.3 on page 6-17 says to check 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4, 5 and 6. That's why I'm saying it's a typo. Maybe I got a misprinted book, but I've double and triple checked it. I'd go with what the FSM says, though.

these are the results i got. is that bad??? or good? someone help??

IAC valve OHM measure results.........
Ok I got the check engine light for the IAC valve, (AKA sensor 0205).
I have the Haynes manual and they said i could check the resistor on it the IAC valve, and i did. this is the results i got.
Terminal 1,2=38.3
Terminal 2,3=38.3
Terminal 3,4=34.2
Terminal 4,5=34.2
Haynes manual mentions they should be around 30 ohms but they are higher so i want to be sure if that IAC valve is bad.
I really need someone to check there IAC valve terminal and tell me what reading they get. please if you can I really appreciate it.

I am just saying what my book says..I could be wrong, but then again i have checked two different IAC valves from two 99 maximas and they BOTH have 0 ohms resistance on 3&4. All others were around 30

What year is your max? I tested my car and one off of a 98 max, and the valves are different from 95-97 maximas. If I remember correctly, both valves from the two cars measured just a tad more than 30, but were within range.

Anything around 30 is fine. It'll depend on air temperature. The Factory Service Manual says it should be approximately 30 ohms at 68 degrees F. If it was bad, it wouldn't be anywhere near that (more like infinite). Also, check the above posts. I believe the Haynes (atleast mine) has a typo, as it says to check between pins 3&4. The '97 Factory Service Manual does not. This could be why ImStockBaby got 0 ohms between pins 3&4 on 2 '99 Maximas, because it isn't supposed to be tested between 3&4. I'd go with the Factory Service Manual, which is what the Nissan techs use to fix the car.
