Well I called JWT and they still haven't done my ECU, recall that I am getting it modified to 7200rpm rev limiter. It will cost me $600, plus the $700 core charge which will be credited back once I send my stock ECU back to them.

I found a JWT ECU for sale from a private seller for $450, it has the normal 7000rpm limiter.

I guess I will wait til I hear from JWT regarding how much longer I have to wait before I decide which route to take.

I would just stick with the one you have on order... no offense, but you have extremely bad luck purchasing ECU's from other members...

What's with JWT? If your ECU isn't done, that's means mine is still a ways off. Ben told me mine "should be shipping March 14". What BS

JWT treating you badly? Just go to another vendor to get a ECU with a raised limiter! Oh wait, you can't? JWT is the only game in town? Well, now you know what wrong with JWT. =P

lol, there's no point in revving a 4G VQ that high without the MEVI considering the engine starts choking after 5k

If trust who you are getting it from get the 7K, I thought you were the one that said the extra 200 RPM were only to keep from banging off the limiter or something like that.

Neal,

If you decide to wait on yours from JWT maybe you can send the private seller my way.

Thanks

I got an email from Ben this afternoon, he said they were going to try to get it out today and he should have a tracking number for me today or tomorrow (tuesday). He was correct last time he said this as well, they DID try to do it the day they said they would, but turns out it was a 98 ECU. So it looks like mine should be going out tuesday (didn't get the tracking number monday).

mtrai-- i agree, i am just impatient heh

justmaxin96, its in the for sale forum, Autobahn Max or something like that is his name. I think he may have already sold it though, he hasn't gotten back to me yet and there were a few people on the thread that seemed interested.

Cartest says there isn't much of a significant difference in ET/trap between 6900rpm vs 7200rpm. You can blame the delay on all the SR20 guys going turbo .

also i don't think gettin tat extra 200rpm at high-end will help you with a VQ cuz most HP/torque are gained under midrange, unless ur SCed or MEVIed...

While the guys with 7000rpm limiters are struggling to get it as close to 7000 as they can without hitting redline at the track, I'll shift at 7100 and never have to worry about it

I think it makes perfect sense to go with the 7200 rev limiter. I know I have only had my VI for less than a day, but it is so easy to hit the rev limiter now. 7200 is something I'll have to consider.

Ben told me that valve float starts to occur around 7100-7200rpms. Wne I asked for the 7200rpm limiter, he informed me of this, told me he didn't recommend it, that JWT wouldn't be responsible for any damage, and there would be a disclaimer put on my receipt. Neal's done the calculations and having the 7200rpm will only make you 0.03-0.05 seconds quicker. Only in 1st will the 7200rpm limiter do you any good.

BTW, my ECU shipped yesterday 2 day Fed-Ex. It left the San Diego Fed-Ex last night and should be here tommorrow.

I have heard valve float starts at 7500? It just what I read, so it is by no means "offical" knowledge.

Did you pay extra for the 2nd day shipping? Back when I ordered mine they asked if I wanted regular ground or a faster method.

Ben emailed me on last Wednesday and said my ECU should ship that Friday. The weekend passed with no notification of shipment. I emailed Ben yesterday asking about the status. He emailed back appologized for my wait and said they'd try and send it that evening. 2 hours later I got the Fed-Ex tracking number for 2 day shipping. Did I ask for 2 day shipping? Nope. We'll see what they charge me.
