Air temp sensor blues...
Air temp sensor blues...
Well, I have had my Injen RD CAI~HAI for several months but have one problem still: the air temp sensor does not match. I dunno if they just flat out sent me the wrong kit, but I am stuck now and need to correct this problem. As of now, my sensor is behind the fuse box, thus giving an in-adequate reading to my ecu and I am running rich.

The 96 air temp. sensor has a hard plastic-oval shaped bracket with 2 screws on either side. The injen intructions comment about a rubber grommet, which is not on or near the air temp. sensor on my car. Also, the piping that comes with the intake has a circle hole in it and the air temp sensor mounts with to screws and is oval shaped. What gives? Can I just splice the wires and use a 97-99 air temp. sensor? Do 97-99 use a rubber grommet as aforementioned? Thanks for any help you can contribute.

That sucks!!! So, you put yours inside the pipe? how did you seal it off? right now mine has duct tape on it w/out the sensor.

This intake is supposed to be a CAI, but its not really a true CAI. It doesn't pull air from outside te engine bay, so literally, it's not a CAI. It does make the car pull hard, and I seem to think its very excellent in quality and best engineered by far.

I bet you can use an intake air sensor from a 97-99 with no problem. But if I were you, I'd just leave the IATS off altogether and leave it dangling in the engine bay, and cover the hole with duct tape or something. A lot of people here have done that with no adverse effects.
I have had it dangling also, but I think I am gonna try to use the 97 IATS, just for ish and giggles. It would clean up the engine bay though, so I have a project for this weekend!
